The E-volunteering – building online volunteering ecosystem project aims to transform international volunteering practices by creating a sustainable e-volunteering ecosystem. This innovative approach combines digital tools and current methodologies to support youth organisations and encourage youth participation in volunteering activities adapted to the digital age. Its mission is to make volunteering a more inclusive practice, overcoming physical, geographical and economic barriers.
So far, the project has made important progress. A comprehensive mapping of key actors related to e-volunteering was carried out, identifying specific needs. In addition, two innovative curricula were developed: one to train organisations in e-volunteer management and another aimed at preparing young people to participate as e-volunteers. These materials were successfully tested in Greece and Serbia, allowing the content to be adjusted according to the needs detected. An online event was also held to collect policy recommendations and lay the groundwork for the standardisation and recognition of digital volunteering.
In the next phases of the project, a multifunctional e-volunteering web tool will be developed, which will be available soon and will facilitate the connection between organisations and volunteers. In addition, a team of trainers will be created and national workshops will be organised in the consortium countries, where both organisations and volunteers will receive specific training on how to implement and participate in volunteering projects.
