From 10 to 12 July 2024, the city of Valencia hosted the Quality Education Workshop, an initiative of the EUYouth4EUGoals project, funded by the European Union and organised by Backslash. This event brought together young people from different European countries with the aim of reflecting and working on solutions to improve inclusive and accessible education.
Objectives of the workshop
The main purpose of the workshop was to
- Promote understanding of the concept of quality education.
- To develop collaborative and reflective skills through group dynamics.
- Torelate personal experiences to the collective goals of European youth.
- To create a toolkit of practical resources for professionals and young people interested in improving education.
Methodology and Activities
During three days, participants took part in a series of dynamic activities designed under non-formal education methods. Sessions included:
- ‘The Personal Treasure Map’: A creative activity to explore personal educational trajectories and goals.
- “Future Workshop: A three-phase methodology (critique, imagination and implementation) to identify challenges and innovative solutions.
- Creation of the ‘Youth Toolkit’: Participants worked in teams to design practical resources for students and educators.
Outcomes and Evaluation
The workshop was notable for its inclusive and participatory atmosphere, allowing attendees to share experiences and collaborate on the creation of educational tools applicable in their communities. Among the aspects most valued by the participants were:
- The dynamic and collaborative structure of the workshop.
- The opportunity to exchange ideas with young people from different countries.
- The creation of practical resources such as the Youth Toolkit for Quality Education.
The organisers also highlighted the commitment and creativity of the group, as well as the flexibility to adapt the sessions to the specific needs of the participants.
